Yesterday the Smithtown Fire Department answered multiple calls due to the results of the high winds and rain that crossed Long Island.
The true force of the storm was evidenced by a call to Cambridge Drive in the Village of the Branch, where a tree toppled onto the home.
Responding to the call were rescue 4-2-9, Chief 4-2-33 (Murphy) and first responder 4-2-81. The residents at home were not injured, but extensive damage was done to the house.
The Department assisted in securing the utilities and notifying the Building Department.
