Saturday Night Turns Into Sunday Morning at a Commercial Fire in Kings Park

On February 8th at 20:34 the Smithtown Fire Department was activated for a reported commercial structure on fire near Lawrence Rd and Old Northport Rd in Kings Park. Crews responded and found a large pile of debris on fire inside a warehouse with fire spreading to the roof. The call was upgraded to a working commercial structure fire with mutual aid calls to Commack, Kings Park, St James, Hauppauge, and Nesconset. Units 4-2-31, 4-2-32, 4-2-33, 4-2-5, 4-2-6-5, 4-2-4, 4-2-2, 4-2-9, 4-2-7, 4-2-6-1, 4-2-15 and several mutual aided companies worked together to get water on the fire through hand lines and master streams. Eventually, the use of excavators was needed to break up the pile of debris and ensure that the fire was completely extinguished. Units operated on scene for approximately 7 hours under the command of First Assistant Chief Diecidue. Photos courtesy of Joe Sperber and Ken Bradbury
